The Bassrush warehouse series continues in 2009 with a very special showcase featuring DJ FRICTION and the Shogun Audio family! Friction is a standard bearer when it comes to amazing DJ skills combined with impeccable track selection and his label roster of budding Shogun Audio artists is testament to his uncompromising standards. We’re also very excited to have SP:MC on board providing his subtle style of mic control during Friction’s set. Performing alongside Friction is the one and only ALIX PEREZ, one of the most talented new producers pushing a wholly new D&B sound that rides the line between soulful liquid funk and dancefloor-friendly heaviness. After his amazing set at 2008’s Nocturnal Festival, we knew we had to bring Alix back for a more intimate setting and this is the perfect opportunity. Also coming across the pond for his debut LA appearance is ICICLE, one of Holland’s rising D&B stars who has created a unique sound for himself within D&B characterized by huge, rolling basslines and chest-rattling drum work. Rounding out the lineup are Bassrush resident DJs HAZEN and DECO alongside the Bassrush MCs Dino and Questionmark. This is going to be one for the history books, so buy your tickets early and we’ll see you on the dancefloor!

[…] After the initial Dieselboy show that brought the bass back to the converted Downtown Los Angeles warehouse setting, Insomniac Events brought an 18+ crowd an even bigger show featuring the legendary Andy C & GQ, Fierce and Red One. This party was L-I-V-E and just what the post-Halloween doctor ordered! The venue (Lot 613) has been hosting underground events under another name for years but has undergone some major changes that give it what one party-goer referred to as “a Miami feel.” Two rooms of sound, LCD lighting, full bars for 21+ patrons; you don’t want miss the next show on January 17th with Friction, Alix Perez & Icicle. The Downtown venue is nice and cool, good staff, good people, but the soundsystem…. just not feeling it, its way to bass heavy, you cant hear the music, not very enjoyable, funktion system at vanguard was toooooons of bass but didnt vibrate your inner ears. i couldnt believe how many people stayed in front of the speakers at the Andy C event. I love bass, but not when i can feel the cilia in my ear falling out…anyone else notice?
