Bad Taste Recordings continuing its onslaught of heavy beats with none other than the three-headed beast known as Gydra dropping some of that heavy metal thunder. Hailing straight out of Russia, Gydra have been making big moves with releases on imprints like Blackout, Eatbrain, Tamrecords and Paperfunk but nothing can prepare you for the full power the trio is wielding on their aptly titled ‘Dystopia’ EP.
Right from the cinematic intro of the title cut that brings on the shivers before dropping into the monstrous amen-driven cut proper, you know that the crew is firing on all cylinders and holding absolutely nothing back. From the moshpit to the neuro-punch of bits like “Insurrection,” “Secret Society,” and “New Dawn” the EP is rammed from top to bottom with enough crisp breaks and twisted basslines to keep the shakes at bay.
While the head-crushing “Dystopia” will most likely take center stage on the dancefloor with its sheer power, “Megalopolis” is the one to turn to when you want to see how the crew really gets down as the epic intro of this one spirals to the breaking point before the dirty sci-fi funk vibes take over and make this one to roll out for the crew looking to get their heads cracked in a deeper way.
