Ivy Lab’s 20/20 LDN label welcomes the return of Deft, a young Croydon-based artist rooted in live performance and compelling left-fieldy DJ sets.
18-year-old London rapper Buchanan joins in with Deft for the lyric rich title track “Bellyboy” setting the tone for the entire EP. Cutting through straight to the gut, “Rollon” supplies introspective calming beats with deep and surreal vibes much like “Scope” another meditative and emotion-stirring hip-hop beat.
The clean aesthetic of this EP displays pristine and future-thinking sound design with “Done” capturing the 20/20 signature vibe to a tee. The celebrated “For Sudden” from his first EP on the imprint receives VIP treatment on this release and does not disappoint with a snatched-up rework of the original.
