Dirt Monkey and Sully lock horns in the studio and unleash the beast known as “King Kong” on the masses.
A masterclass in collaborative perfection, the resulting tune is an unhinged combination of Dirt Monkey’s wonky flex and Sully’s chest-thumping bass. Having crossed paths while on the Ascension tour in support of Wakaan label boss, Liquid Stranger, the connection quickly led to some studio flex that has us absolutely begging for more.
As Dirt Monkey tells us: “Sully and I wrote this lil number on Liquid Stranger’s tour in early 2020 right before the pandemic hit… we tried to make it as anthemic as possible, and it’s gotten a great crowd response every single time I’ve played it, so I’m very excited for it to be out!”
Sully’s own contribution to the cause is not to be overlooked, even as he humbly reminds us of the outsized influence that Dirt Monkey has played on his own ever-evolving sound: “Pat (Dirt Monkey) is an absolute beast of a producer, a great friend, and has been an influence for me over the years. King Kong came together SO quick. I remember passing the laptop and headphones back and forth every half hour until it was knocked out one afternoon before we played a show in Baton Rouge. The next day, we wrapped up the song in Luzcid’s kitchen in Houston and got to play out the full product at the Ayva Center for one of my last stops of the tour.”
Don’t just take their word for it, unleash the beast below and consider yourself warned as it’s sure to bring the ‘King Kong’ out in you and the squad and have you bouncing off the walls.
This one’s out now so lock and load yours here.
