Toronto-based Nix Chohan (aka Dr. Ozi) has been crafting a unique sound all his own on some of bass music’s largest imprints like Firepower Records and Uplink Audio. Returning to NSD: Black Label with more of his signature upbeat synths and penetrating bass, Chohan is about to drop some of his heaviest work to date in the form of his Stampede EP.
Kicking things off proper, the Dr. collabs with Adair on a jumpy, tech-hook tune backed by an addictively powerful bottom end. “D.O.G. (De Original Gangsta)” brings on the street vibes with multiple drops that will make you stomp it out on the dancefloor before “Youth In Asia” cuts straight to the point with an intriguing buildup that dumps straight into a wonky bassline aimed at the jugular. Although Chohan turns down the heat a touch with the melodic intro on “Your Face” (featuring Hartry), it isn’t long until the ill bassline quickly takes over and brings on the facemelt once again. Just to make sure you’re satisfied, Dr. Ozi closes things out on a “B0ss” note with an absolutely filthy bass workout that’s sure to induce ruthless mosh pits anywhere it’s played.
