The Nottingham-based Ed:it unloads a heavy-duty four-tracker for his debut on Dispatch Recordings. Titled the Telling True EP, the tunes have been receiving love from all corners of the scene including Calyx + TeeBee, S.P.Y., Nu:Tone, Doc Scott, Krust, Technimatic, and Nymfo.
Bringing his passion for deep and soulful vibes to the forefront, Ed:it merges dark vibes with an intricate jazzy mentality. The title track opens things proper with a dreamy intro before dumping into a master session of percussive movement and atmospheric pressure. “Dub Light” follows by throwing a little dirt into the mix before the shuffling “Radio Ghetto Soul” keeps the pressure on lock for the dancefloor.
“Collecting Dust” closes it out but is a personal favorite, if only for the way that layer upon layer come together in a perfect play of hi-fidelity elements that twist the synapses and fire up the dancefloor all the same. The percussive elements play off the bass while the atmospheres swirl and small vocal details sprinkled throughout bring on the goosebumps. Head straight to this one if you’re in the mood to get lifted to another level.
