EPROM’s Pineapple is King
EPROM’s Pineapple is King

The Portland-based overlord of left-field leaning bass experimentation EPROM continues to shred synapses and blast his way to the stratosphere with his latest five-tracker on his own EPROM Music imprint. Charting a course across a soundscape littered with the detritus of hip-hop, bass, dub, and twisted beats, EPROM keeps the rude-boy swagger in full force on the title cut with enough distorted tension to have you alternately stroking that chin and pounding your chest.

Like sonic blasts from outer space, EPROM is at his best when he’s kicking an untouchable dancefloor groove while pushing the listeners expectations into new and unfamiliar territory. Take the lo-fi trap-tinged burn of “B.F.G.” for a taste of the kind of beats that’ll have your lizard brain blowing fuses before bits like “Zweihander” and “Koummya” peel back the layers, skin to muscle, bone, blood, and back.

As if that wasn’t enough G Jones steps in for a “Pineapple” remix that is straight up rocket fuel for those seeking a proper lift-off on the dancefloor. While the term ‘journey’ may get used too much when describing multi-track releases these days, trust, this EP is a proper journey from top to bottom that will put you in the zone and leave you feeling like you’ve blasted through a wormhole and shot out the other side.

Out now so prepare to get that head twisted here and while you’re at it lock in your Project Z tickets here as EPROM prepares to bring his face-melting sickness to the NOS Center on August 12.
