Label boss Disaszt curates an epic four-track remix EP as his Mainframe Recordings celebrates 17 years in the game. While the Mainframe parties are legendary in the Viennese club world, the imprint itself has become a touchstone for the very best drum and bass bubbling on the global stage.
Take the aptly titled Twisted EP featuring Smooth, Hamilton, Dorian and Erb n Dub on remix duties. The entire EP is designed to deliver maximum dancefloor damage with each track impressively building off the chest-thumping originals in a unique but unmistakable way.
To give you a taste of what kind of nuclear grade heat is still to come, the label hits us with Smooth’s unchained re-lick of Erb n Dub and Disaszt’s tear-out “Stop.” From the retro Stranger Things-like vibes opening a portal into Smooth’s headspace, just when you think you’ve settled in, Smooth rockets you into the tune proper with a chest-thumping Beastie Boys call to arms. With a stomping groove holding it down, Smooth unleashes an expertly crafted laser-hook and swerving midrange rollercoaster. All the layers come together in that special way that Smooth has built his reputation on and the results are truly stunning and guaranteed to have you wilding out on the dancefloor with the squad or diving straight into the pit.
Smooth’s heater hits the streets on August 19 with the rest of the EP being dropped one at a time over the following four weeks. An instant buy on sight so keep your eyes and ears open to lock yours in when the time is right.
