NYC’s own Esseks kicks us into the weekend with an exquisitely warped single from his forthcoming The Villains Journey album on Deadbeats.
The aptly titled “Watching From A Distance” is a slow churning creeper that rides that fine line between introspection and straight up howling at the moon. Unfolding like the soundtrack to a sci-fi cinematic masterpiece, the alien sniper vibes reign supreme as the genre-bending flex that Esseks delivers on the ever-evolving cut tickles the nerves in all the right way.
As Esseks tells it, the cut is “a small piece of a bigger picture.” One that will no doubt unfold as the full tapestry of The Villains Journey will soon reveal.
