G Jones & Bleep Bloop Get Inside Your Mind

DJ Shadow’s Liquid Amber imprint is putting out some incredible genre-defying bass music lately, and two young and impressive artists by the names of G Jones and Bleep Bloop have really stepped up to the plate.

Exploring everything from juicy 808s to funky breaks on their collaborative Mind EP, G Jones and Bleep Bloop kick things off with the vintage sci-fi vibes of “Real.” Lurching acid house mixed with experimental 303 bass and ‘80s Casio keyboard-inspired claps form the core while the title track, “Mind,” is stacked with elements of b-boy, hardstyle, and icy trap-influenced beats.

“Plastic Flower People” starts off like a gritty underground hip-hop tune with modulated tones and air horns making for some incredible hype. Building on the greatness of “Mind” we find a huge remix from Montréal-born hip-hop don Lunice, who is currently on tour DJing for Madonna on a few dates on her Rebel Heart tour. Lunice’s version carries a creepy intro that keeps the space vibe alive with funky trap edits with some heavy synth work.
