The Austria-UK connection is strong, as Pandora and Coda’s Switch! Recordings imprint continues to go straight for the heart of the dancefloor with two storming jump-up remixes of the highest order.
First up, G13 head honchos Rowney & Propz give the remix treatment to Zen and Coda’s monster original, “Joints.” Opening with militant drums and an old-school educational video narrative warning of the dangers of the herb, the tune drops straight into a gnarly off-beat burner centered on a bassline of epic proportions.
As if that wasn’t enough to get the dancefloor moving, Upgrade takes on the cheeky “Whore Island” from Dorian and Skore and gives it the same screwface treatment that has helped him continue to climb up the ranks. Lurching its way in from a deceptively melodic intro, the thundering twisted beat at the core shivers and shakes in all the right places, while the well-placed call and response of the stabs and atmospheric details are sure to bring on the knee-stomping skank.
