His fourth release on the ever-impressive Deadbeats, “Temper” follows on the heels of bits like “Somehow We Lost It All” alongside Pham and josh pan, and “It’s Our Destiny” with SOPHIE collaborator KUČKA. With support pouring in from the likes of Alison Wonderland, Skrillex, Camo & Krooked, What So Not, TOKiMONSTA, and Apashe, it’s easy to get a sense of how awe-inspiring and yet unclassifiable the Rotterdam-based producer’s output has and continues to be.
With Beatport charting releases surfacing on VISION, Never Say Die, Critical, Invisible, mau5trap, and Ram Records, the celestial merges with the sublime as IMANU seems determined to not only challenge genre expectations but blend influences in a way that makes for an unrivaled experience.
His latest single, “Temper” featuring the sultry lyricism of LIA, sets the stage for his forthcoming debut album Unfold which is already being touted as a future masterpiece.
As IMANU tells us: “Almost three years after starting with IMANU, I now feel it’s time to release my first album. During these past years it feels I have evolved my style, letting go of genres and creating my own sound, and this album feels like a cumulation of that. Right from the start I wanted this album to make sense in both club and listening settings.
Over these last few years I have slowly been moving towards a more expressive style of music, taking inspiration from all sorts of genres and emotions and everything I’ve had the privilege of taking in whilst travelling around the globe.
One thing I learned is that there are a lot of different moving parts with releasing an album, which, at times, can be a bit stressful. But now that the news is out there, I’m mostly excited to see what people are going to think about the music.”
