It’s been a wild week for Maduk. Not only was he tapped to drop a 60-minute mix session on Friction’s BBC Radio 1 show, but he also announced (during the same program) that he was being signed exclusively to the mighty Hospital Records. As if that wasn’t enough news to get the fans buzzing, word of his debut single on the imprint seems to have elevated the buzz to an even higher level.
Having snagged the title of “Best Newcomer Producer” at the Drum & Bass Arena awards last year, Maduk made a name for himself on imprints like Viper, Fokuz and the infamous YouTube-driven record label, Liquicity. Now, as the Dutchman brings his high-energy liquid vibes to Hospital, he can’t help but feel as if things are coming full circle.
“Exactly four years ago I made my first track as Maduk with a drum loop from Nu:Tone’s sample pack. If you would have told me that I’d work alongside him and the rest of the drum & bass masters at Hospital Records four years later, I would have never believed you. Joining Hospital feels as the perfect time and place to release my music!”
With his new single featuring the likes of Logistics, Nymfo and the electro-house duo Duckfront, there are no doubt plans to complete an album within the next year, as seems customary for the label. We’ll keep you posted but until then, be sure to pre-order Maduk’s monster single, “Not Alone,” out October 16.
