The Atlanta-based ruthless duo known as Mantis, have made a substantial mark on the scene since their debut in 2011. Their unique twist of metal-influenced productions has landed them releases on some of the largest record labels in the game like Never Say Die, OWSLA, and Uplink Audio. Continuing to make massive moves, Mantis returns with their latest EP, Avidity released on Crime Kitchen.
The title track, “Avidity” opens the five track EP with a dreamy deceptive intro that builds the anticipation before diving right into the high-energy “Depths” featuring vocals from Makism. “100% Death” undoubtedly sets out to annihilate with gnarly growls that show off more of the duo’s metal background and will get any crowd moshing. Switching gears with “Back Again,” Mantis challenges their boundaries with this trap infused tune aimed straight at the dancefloor. “Coda” properly closes out the diverse EP with a return to soothing riffs and hypnotic soundscape.
