Continuing to absolutely shred with each and every release, Eatbrain looks to put a solid exclamation point on the proceedings with the first installment of Mindscape’s long awaited Reanimator LP. With plans to release the album as a series of three massive EPs, the Hungarian heavy-hitter conjures up the absolute very best he’s capable of on this neurofunk-driven ride through the dark side of the drum & bass universe.
If the first EP is any indication of all that’s still to come, fans and newcomers alike are in for a treat as Mindscape is turning in some of his best work to date. Having found the perfect balance between razor-tipped aggression and dancefloor funk, bits like “Manbearpig,” “Shut Down,” and “Deep Void” are exactly the kind of arsenal selectors need to kick down the doors and get the crowd moving all winter long.
One of our favorite weapons off the EP is the low-slung roller that we’re premiering below. Centered on that crisp punch and kick that we’ve come to expect from Mindscape, the aptly titled “Fiend or Foe” wastes no time doubling down on the funk before hammering it all home with a menacing bassline swerve.
