Having been absolutely running things as one-half of the powerhouse duo known as Neosignal, the Hamburg-based Misanthrop steps out on his own for a four-track EP of atomic proportions. While he’s been a familiar name for those in the know since the early 2000s, the dark and heady vision of Misanthrop is finally breaking out into the upper echelon of the D&B elite as the trail of dystopic destruction that his I Need More EP for Blackout is leaving in its wake continues to impress.
From the bone-crushing, metal-tinged illness of bits like “Capitalism” and the aptly named “Rock’n’Roll” to the strychnine-laced scream of “Big Data,” all of the dancefloor weaponry is here just waiting to be unleashed on unsuspecting crowds.
If you’re looking for that one perfect track to whip the crowd into a frenzy then head straight for the title track, as “I Need More” is a sci-fi electro-and-acid driven nightmare of epic proportions. With a beat and groove that continually evolves this one pushes the elements to a synapse-melting breaking point and is sure to have the heads screaming for more.
