Miu & LVMP Form A Cyclone
Miu & LVMP Form A Cyclone

Meet Miu, the latest weapon in Rottun Recordings’ explosive arsenal. Coming by way of Norway, Magnus Sørlie (aka Miu) delivers a scorching track entitled “Cyclone” with fellow producer LVMP. Miu was kind enough to converse with Bassrush about his newfound relationship with the prestigious label.

“I kept looking for a label, but in the wrong places. Linking with Rottun was actually super fun. I’ve known Alex from Pegboard Nerds, who have released on Rottun, and Alex mentioned that I should get it released because people responded well to our tunes at the shows. I thought, Fuck it, put it on SoundCloud with the description “Looking for a label, help.” The Pegboard Nerds were super cool to repost it on their feed, then Excision reached out to me on Twitter.”

The track is a certified banger, boasting a spacious sound and buff, grinding bass. Sørlie goes on to share the origin of the epic introductory single: “‘Cyclone’ came about as my buddy LVMP asked if I wanted to do a remix contest on some weird psy-trance track with him. We started messing around joking about psy-trap. The remix turned out all right and we pulled an all-nighter to finish the deadline. The upload went to shit for some weird reposting reasons on SoundCloud and luckily we didn’t make the competition. I like giving my tracks concepts (and) I’d just watched a documentary on tropical weather. LVMP liked the idea and we ran with it, deciding to make it our own track. We switched up the vibe, removed everything related to the remix, and re-engineered the entire track for a more contextual US dancefloor setting.”
