[Playlist] Bachelors of Science: The Space Between Liquid

Globally recognized for purveying the fine art of deep drum & bass, Bachelors of Science continue to reign supreme with their exquisite liquid output. Following the mega 10-track album, The Space Between, released on Code Recordings last year, the crew keeps the dream alive with Volume Three in an ongoing remix series from the album.

The offering features four magical remixes of the classy originals, with US favorite Flaco making a glittering appearance by way of his rolling “Don’t Hold Back” remix featuring Dylan Germick on the vocal tip. Another notable contribution is the legendary Bladerunner’s relick of “Blackfoot Dub” with riding drums and vocal chops from Emcee Child. Bassrush favorite “Cartier” from American producers Jaybee and Dave Owen stands out as another fine remix, with floaty breaks building on the already sultry vibe the Bachelor of Science trio injected into the original.

Now that The Space Between Remixes Vol. 3 EP has been unleashed (cop it here), BoS provide an in-depth look into some tasty offerings from the series, along with a few shining additions from LSB, Utah Jazz and Marcus Intalex. With 15 tunes sure to conjure up the good vibes, hit play on the playlist below and kick-start the holiday week on a high note.

Bachelors Of Science “Satisfy” (BCee and Villem Remix)
“This is the tune that kicked off this entire remix series and has really just been a staple in nearly every set for us. It’s a special tune that we originally made the original as a 170bpm classic Good Looking Records homage. It was originally destined for that label since Bukem was a big fan of it, but in the end we kept it for the album. When we turned it over to BCee and Villem we really were hoping that they’d bring a dancefloor roller edge to it and boy did they deliver. It goes off every time.”

Bachelors Of Science “On The Line” (Random Movement Remix)
“We’ve always been big fans of Intrigue and tend to always play the Bristol scene whenever we’re in the UK, so it was inevitable that we’d work on a tune with Ben Soundscape for the album. Here we bring in the gorgeous vocals of Collette Warren—who’s one of the most recognized voices in the scene—and turn it over to Random Movement who delivered that trademark, stripped down funk that he’s known for. This was a big hit from the last remix volume for us, reaching number one on Juno and popping up in DJ Marky’s Sun and Bass mix, amongst other places.”

LSB ft. DRS and Tyler Daley “Missing You”
“Speaking of Sun and Bass, when people were coming back from this year’s event, one track seemed to be on everyone’s lips—this was it. Soul:r is easily one of the founding labels responsible for the birth of the liquid sound, consistently delivering amazing rollers. They dropped this stunning ballad from LSB, who recently just delivered his first album for them. This track is just full of love, beauty and positive vibes; that isn’t a bad thing in this day and age.”

BCee “I Believe” (BoS Remix)
“We are really excited and proud to be included on this remix album with some incredible producers we admire like Break, Klute, Ulterior Motive and more. The song means so much to us on an emotional level. The lyrics and melodies of Frank H Carter III, along with the original music by BCee and Villem, really stood out to us from BCee’s album last year. We were so happy to have been able to do put a different spin to the vibe!”

Bachelors of Science “Don’t Hold Back” (Flaco Remix)
“Flaco is hands down one of our favorite producers in North America and the world, for that matter. He’s got a unique vibe to his sound and not to mention a close friend of ours. He really nailed it on the ‘Don’t Hold Back’ remix, taking it into a melancholy direction while keeping the drum groove crisp and stepping.”
