[Playlist] Delta Heavy’s Essential November Bangers

Hot off a 60-date international tour in support of the Paradise Lost album released earlier this year, the duo known as Delta Heavy show no signs of slowing down as they look to closing the year out with their first Radio 1 Essential Mix under their belt and a pair of dancefloor burners—including the head-crushing “Kill Floor”—that just hit the streets via Ram Records. (Order yours here, by the way.)

While the latest bits are pushing the dark and dirty drum & bass vibes, the album, remix EPs and of course their live appearances at festivals and clubs reveal a broad love of all aspects and tempos of the bass music world. From trap to bass house, dubstep and drum & bass, Delta Heavy seem eager to break down the barriers between genre limitations and instead push quality music no matter what the tempo. It’s an ethos reflected in their recent “Essential November Bangers” playlist they’ve compiled for us as artists as varied as Habstrakt, Skrillex and Must Die! appear alongside DC Breaks, Sub Focus and Loadstar. Check the selection as well as their own thoughts on each tune below, and keep your eyes peeled for their next single, “Bar Fight,” to drop in early December.

Delta Heavy “Kill Room”
“Shameless promotion of our new single.”

Skrillex & MUST DIE! “VIPs” (Gent & Jawns Remix)
“Something about the rhythm of this reminds me of old dubstep from 10 years ago when it was all about nodding your head. An infectious rhythm that has proved very popular at all of our shows.”

Delta Heavy “Punish My Love VIP”
“We dropped a free download a couple of months ago of our rework of ‘PML.’ You can grab this from our SoundCloud page.”

Habstrakt “Clowns”
“We’ve had at least one Habstrakt tune in all of our sets for the last two years. ‘Clowns’ feels fresh, bringing a more wonky and swaggering rhythm than his usual productions.”

Fourward “Sequencer”
“These guys have just dropped a new album on Shogun and this, and everything else on the album, is a full on assault on the dancefloor.”

Loadstar “Encarta”
“Our buddies Loadstar are nearly done writing their album, and if it’s anything like this latest release it’s going to be a banger.”

Destructo ft. Problem “Winning” (Taiki Nulight Remix)
“We’re big fans of Taiki Nulight and loved the remix he did of our last single, ‘White Flag.’ His output has been relentless over the last 12 months and each one has been a banger!”

RL Grime “Aurora” (Havok Roth Remix)
“An exceptional, epic and intense rework of Aurora.”

DC Breaks “Arcade”
“Brand new from the guys, back with their signature bass sounds for maximum dancefloor impact.”

Sub Focus “Nobody Knows”
“Great to see our pal Sub Focus back with the first in a series of tracks he’ll be releasing over the next few months. Vibes are strong on this with a classy and fresh sounding drop.”
