With the imminent arrival of DC Breaks’ Different Breed LP almost upon us, expectations and anticipation are running high as the ever-impressive duo are sure to have poured everything they’ve got into this massive 15-track project. Years in the making, the album promises a mix of hands-in-the-air emo-anthems and straight up dark and dirty fire aimed right at the dancefloor.

Riding that fine line between uplifting melodies and a chest-thumping groove, the gritty “Organism” is the perfect introduction to the anabolic DC Breaks sound as the dreamy, intricate atmospheres and hypnotizing strings only hint at the darkness lurking around the edges of the tune. A hypnotic call and response between the elements gathers strength from the spiraling tension at the core before the explosive energy is released at the drop and transformed into a full-on face cruncher.

Whether it’s that stepping beat, the hustling top end, or the dirty mid-range growl that gets you, it isn’t until we pull up for some fresh air at the second breakdown that we realize the journey DC Breaks has just led us on. By the time the sci-fi dreamscape begins to swirl and hurdle its way towards the drop you know you’re ready to dive straight in to the rest of the LP when it drops.
