ED:IT’s third EP, The Junction, releases tomorrow, October 6, on Shogun Audio and the four-track release is a testament to the new Shogun artist’s diversity as well as his love of all aspects of drum & bass. With bits of liquid, jump up and even darkstep, it’s clear with The Junction that ED:IT is about bringing his diverse palette to Shogun and to drum and bass as a whole.
While all the bits on the EP are stellar, we’re amped to be able to premiere our favorite cut off the EP, “Nevermind It.” From the dark and moody intro to the steppy quality of the beat when it comes in, you know you’re in for a heavy ride. With a minimalist touch centered on light, popping snares and a subtle bassline that grinds out a few sub bass tones per phrase, this one is no doubt a nod to pre-neuro darkstep, and perhaps even pre-tech altogether.
“With my third EP instalment on Shogun I wanted to create four tracks that represent myself and the music I love,” ED:IT confirms, taking special care to note that with “Nevermind It” his goal was simply to “introduce some gritty steppers to the dance.”
He’s definitely done that and more as he returns to center stage with what is no doubt his strongest release to date. For more of the deep, dancefloor precision from ED:IT, be sure snag your copy of The Junction EP releasing on Shogun here.
