With their long-awaited Focus EP finally dropping on UZ’s Quality Goods Records today, the Denver-via-Chicago-based Kyral x Banko are about to get their due. Coming with a sound that spans the gap from bass to rap and hip-hop, the pair have caught the attention of mad heavy hitters in the scene including NGHTMRE, Mayhem, Antiserum, and, of course, UZ.
The four-track EP showcases their unique hybrid sound that seems determined to not only ignite a fire on the dancefloor but do it on their own terms. While all the elements feel familiar—brass hits, hip-hop swag, 808 bass shivers—it’s the way they all come together that’s sure to put Kyral and Banko on the map for those looking for something fresh.
Take the critical cut we’re premiering below. Emerging from the darkness like a retro video game soundtrack, “Break” features an eerie arpeggiated synth that hypnotically lures us in before quickly turning venomous and spiting us out the other side. With the drop twisting up the synapses after a breathtaking pull-up, it’s this kind of trapped-out illness that shows just how much flex Kyral and Banko are capable of dumping on the masses.
This one is out now so make sure and lock the EP in for your personal stash here.
