When Rene LaVice unleashed his Play With Fire album on Ram Records late last year, it was obvious that he’d hit the sweet spot, charting a jaw-dropping course through a diverse range of vibes, tempos, and influences that managed to not only capture some of his best work to date, but secured his position in the upper echelon of the D&B elite.
Six months on, Ram revisit the album with a “Deluxe” version that includes four exclusive new bits that once again bring the heat as only Rene can do. From gritty dancefloor killers like “Wicked It Works” and “Public Xerox” on through to the junglized version of “Lights Out,” the re-release definitely holds its own.
Lucky for us, “Waves”—one of our faves off the original LP—gets a full-on drum & bass makeover that is anything but cosmetic. The original indie-rock emo vibes are still intact as the anabolic power at the core is turned up a few notches, making it perfect for the mid-session rinseout of even the most demanding drum & bass dancefloor.
This one drops Friday, May 20 via Ram Records so lock in your pre-order now and be one of the first to check an exclusive glimpse of the “Dnb Mix” of “Waves” below.
