On the serious come up in the past year, Anatoly and Volodymir, best known by their production moniker, Tapolsky and VovKING, have caught the attention of heavyweight imprints and artists alike with their uncompromising vision and precision sound.

Following up on their debut single on Ram sister imprint ProgRAM and a forthcoming release on Mainframe, the Ukranian duo landed not just one but three tunes on the massive 51-track Technique Summer 2017 compilation album forthcoming from Drumsound and Bassline Smith’s Technique Recordings imprint.

Our favorite of the bunch is this bit we’re premiering below: “88.” Featured by Camo & Krooked in their epic Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 last month, the dreamy intro and exotic guitar lay the groundwork for the haunting male vocal that adds just the right touch of melancholy to an otherwise sun-drenched slab of drum and bass bliss. Taking a subtle and minimalist approach to melodic shifts and an ever-evolving atmosphere, the power of this one is in its ability to not only grab hold of your heart strings but to have a supreme level of confidence in the way in which it does so on its own terms.

The tune more than holds its own alongside offerings from heads like Matrix & Futurebound, Brookes Brothers, Document One, Tantrum Desire, and the label bosses, Drumsound and Bassline Smith themselves, and no doubt signals that the name Tapolsky and VovKING is one we should get used to.
