The Slovenian duo known as Telekinesis return to Blackout Music with a tech-funk-driven EP of the highest order. Consisting of Smooth and Markoman, project features the pair at their very best as the dark and heavy sci fi-vibes take on a form that is all their own. With track titles like “Conspiracy,” “Occult,” and “NWO,” the aptly titled New World Order EP serves not only as a kind of prophetic warning but brings to life the kind of dark and disturbing soundtrack that would fit perfectly over your favorite immersive video game or sci-fi-horror film.
One of our favorites off the EP is the stepping “Mass Surveillance” that takes a deadly stealth approach to all that goes bump in the night. From the second you hit play the pressure is on, as an insistent break and swirling atmosphere steamroll their way to the tech-infused heart of the tune proper. Lurching out of the darkness with a steady punch-and-roll, this one brings on visions of highly trained soldiers battling it out on a desolate landscape in some not-so-distant alien future.
This sneak-peek at the EP comes just in time for label bosses Black Sun Empire to drop the hammer at Funktion tomorrow night at the Regent Theater. With rumors of an album project continuing to echo their way through the time-space continuum, you can rest assured that this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what Telekinesis has in store for us in the coming year.
