With their eponymous imprint becoming the go-to source for those who like their tech-driven beats on the dark side, Cause4Concern continue their jaw-dropping onslaught of top-notch releases with their latest single, featuring none other than Utrecht wunderkind known as Pythius. Teaming up with label heads Optiv & CZA on the A-side, the aptly titled “Battlecruiser” fires up the rocket boosters with a relentless march towards oblivion centered on crisp percussion and dirty subs rattling the mix.
But our favorite still has to be this Pythius rework of Cause4Concern’s classic “Moongerm” that rides the fine-line between retro-nostalgia for the golden age of neurofunk while smashing its way into the future. Taking the nearly decade old track and conjuring up the ghosts of the past before injecting them with a healthy dose of alien DNA, the aggressive hook and twitch at the core make this one destined to be a future classic in its own right.
