The Charlotte native floor-shaker known as Ray Volpe has come to build nothing short of an empire since his start in the production world in 2010. Now, at just 21 years old, Ray has released numerous projects on some of the largest imprints in bass music while paving a unique path of genre-blurring creativity. Most recently, Ray has joined the roster of heavy hitters with his latest project, the Purpose EP on Never Say Die. Unlike some of his other emotionally charged releases like the No Emotions Allowed EP, Ray Volpe comes with a vengeance on Purpose and proves to be his best work to date!
Collaborating with Armanni Reign, the title track opens the project with a luring introduction that shows off Armanni’s vocals before moving into straight up bass oblivion territory with a stomp drop that’ll keep those heads knockin’. Just when you thought you had a grasp on things, Ray comes from left field and serves up a high energy switch-up before moving into the second drop that hits even harder than the first. Next up, Ray brings on fellow producer Control Freak for the high energy “Warp Zone” that shows off a multi-dimensional bassline drizzled in high synths that come for the jugular
Switching things up, Ray introduces a mesmerizing drum kick right off the bat with “Origin.” Flexing with a deep, tech-inspired drop meant to grab you by the horns and keep you steppin’ before moving into a slower drop to settle the dust properly. Closing out the project on a proper note, Ray calls to action with “Get Up” and opens with another luring introduction while building the anticipation with a heart throbbing drum kick before coming with a relentless drop and ending on a soothing piano riff.
