Continuing his ever-impressive path to the forefront of the genre, René LaVice takes some time out from crushing it in the studio, on the road, and in his new role as a leading tastemaker on Radio 1 to hit us with an epic anthem designed to dropkick the masses into 2018.
With everything the youngblood-turned-future legend touches being transformed into dancefloor gold, “Drop It,” René’s latest single on Ram Records lives up to its name by diving straight into the heart of darkness and unleashing the beast within.
Says the producer, “‘Drop It’ was an attempt at taking some of the elements that embody the core of the René LaVice sound and amping them up to the gigawatts in order to create an absolute club destroyer. I tested it in my sets as I was working on it, and by the second mixdown it was done. When you hear the crowd roar like ‘OOHHHHH!’ that’s when you know it’s done. That was the goal with that track, and I’m really happy with the result. The intro gives me goosebumps when I mix it in, but ‘it’s all about the drop.’ It’s so much fun to play it and it’ll be in my sets for a long time to come.”
Easing us into the proceedings with a seductive intro centered on live drums and Rene’s own vocal lick, the tune doesn’t waste much time before the fuse is lit and Rene shotguns us into a bass-fueled takeover sure to have you and the squad bouncing off the walls. From the rib-rattling bottom end to the spiraling mid-range hook, the mixdown flex of Rene is on full display alongside his own ever-impressive musicality. Steamrolling its way through the dancefloor like some genetically engineered creature bent on destruction, the single offers up a sneak peek at the mad vibes Rene is conjuring up in the lab as he constructs his next LP.
