Strap yourselves in and prepare for an epic cinematic ride as Rido and Counterstrike link up for a massive kickoff to the newly minted Let It Roll imprint. An offshoot of the Czech-based festival of the same name, Prague native Rido takes center stage on the two chapter, 10-minute long intro that leads up to the title track.
Unfolding like the score to some futuristic sci-fi thriller, “New Chapter” brings on the tension with a crescendo of strings and pads before cybernetic darkness begins to surface around the edges. Where the first chapter opens on a steady, half-time groove, the second chapter brings on the fire with a pummeling, break-driven beat and explosive bassline. Just when you think you can’t take any more, the South African duo known as Counterstrike step into the ring and unleash the strychnine-based heat of the main event.
Relocation to Prague hasn’t blunted Counterstrike’s ability to unleash dancefloor fury as their dirty, hard-edged sound meets the neurofunk illness of Rido at his very best. The results are a mix of synapse-frying atmospheres and heavyweight dancefloor punishment that has already been brandished by the chosen few who’ve been testing it out on unsuspecting crowds.
