Envisioned as a “culture-garnering media platform and free-release imprint conceived by Skrillex & co.” the Los Angeles-based Nest has made a mark for itself as a genre-blurring online imprint of sorts, releasing free tunes from the likes of AC Slater, Zomboy, Signal:Noise, and Craig Williams.
For their 46th release, the OWSLA-affiliated imprint teamed up with drum & bass stalwart Hospital Records to unleash an epic four-track EP from none other than the Brazilian/Bristolia heavy-hitter known as S.P.Y. Coming off of a massive 2014 with the release of his Back to Basics double-LP and eponymous tour, the ever-prolific producer heads straight to the dancefloor once again with four original bits centered on his signature epic and atmospheric yet hard-edged sound.
It’s the first appearance by an established drum & bass artist on the imprint, and one that holds true to Nest’s vision of being a “transparent vantage point” into a genre-less global culture of “forward-thinking” music lovers and a “home for outstanding music sourced from our growing community of artists.” Still, for the majority of bass heads out there, we’re just stoked to be able to snag a four-track EP from one of the hottest producers on the planet for free. Big up!
