Liquid Stranger continues to dominate the game when it comes to curating the finest interstellar bass in the galaxy on his ever-essential Wakaan imprint. The latest from Shlump is another master class in sonic mastery as the West Coast wildling elevates his game on his aptly titled four-track System Crash EP.
While all four cuts slice and dice their way through multiple dimensions, the time-warped vision of “Mysteries” is fuel for opening your third eye as much as it is for hammering it home on the dancefloor. Cinematic sci-fi vibes give way to a synesthetic soundscape that conjures up visions of a sunrise on a distant moon. From there the energy builds its slow climb towards the off-kilter dive into the heart of this synapse-twisting dancefloor dreamer. Whether you’re out communing with the stars in the desert or deep in the bassbin at the club, Shlump dials it in and paves the way for the rest of the heat he’s kicking.
When asked about the vision behind the EP as a whole, Shlumps says: “I had the intention to curate an EP that broke conventional genre boundaries. I took inspiration from many different, strange places and wanted each track to have a vibe of its own. The goal was to create songs that would bend the normal ‘formula.’”
Prepare for the full mind-bending System Crash EP to drop Friday, August 9 by pre-saving your version of this beast here and checking the premiere of “Mysteries” below.
