Friction’s gilded Shogun Audio has reached a major milestone this year, and what better way to celebrate than with the release of four various artists EP’s over the next several months? Kicking off the festivities is Shogun 100 Part 1, featuring an impressive lineup of Shogun alumni.
Icicle & Proxima join forces on the dark and edgy themed “Stimulation,” a perfectly techy and straightforward tune. “Transference” from Technimatic offers a contrasting cut with a dreamy Rhodes intro and steadily paced breaks that create an uplifting vibe.
Ulterior Motive steps in with their funky-layered drums on the head nodding “Radian,” while Alix Perez closes out the EP by applying the remix treatment to “Battle Scars” with Jakes, Fourward and Friction. Per usual, Alix delivers a pristine, minimal version that showcase the best bits from the original cut previously released on Friction’s 2014 Vs series.
Shogun 100 Part 1 premieres March 18 and can be purchased via pre-order on vinyl and digital formats here.
