The drum and bass trio known as Signs has been tearing a unique path through the bass music scene with a sequence of huge releases on well-respected labels in a relatively short timespan. Producers Opsen, Primal Therapy and Le Lutin have each made their independent marks prior to the creation of Signs with releases on labels including Dissected Culture, Chronic, Trouble On Vinyl, Vandal Rec, 36Hertz and Kosen Prod. But now, under their Signs moniker, the three emerge into a whole new realm of production. Having subsequently exploded into international awareness with exquisitely crafted releases on labels such as Red Light Records, Bad Taste Recordings, C4C Recordings, Gridlok’s project 51 label, RAM Recordings, Eatbrain, Plasma and Noisia’s mighty Division Recordings, the hugely respected French trio sets their sights on the German-based Saturate Records with their rousing EP entitled The Message (STRTEP059).
Channeling the quintessential stylings of West Coast’s low-end driven beats from across the globe, Saturate have been leading the way in all things bass heavy, broken-beat, experimental, glitch, hip-hop, psychedelic and trap for years now. A perfect marriage of Signs and Saturate’s collective mission towards pushing the new-school, hip-hop influenced sound forward, The Message proves itself a powerful dancefloor detonator complete with carefully crafted sound design, swinging percussive attitude and lethal basslines.
