A rising name within Bristol’s Grime scene, 19-year-old Jeff Emmott (aka Sir Hiss) first began making waves last year with a slew of well received singles as well as a seven-track debut release on Italdred entitled Saracen. Hiss’ presence has escalated rapidly since, with a unique musical perspective that is heavily influenced by grime, yet supplemented by a wealth of other musical styles that has helped shape his highly volatile and infectious style. Following his debut release, Sir Hiss finds himself on the cusp of yet another career milestone, his debut wax release on March 3 with the eclectic Infernal Sounds imprint.
Standing as the first release on Infernal Sounds’ IFSXXX sub-label series that aims to highlight cheeky tunes fit for white label, vinyl-only treatment, Sir Hiss’ IFSXXX001 sets the series off at a blistering pace. Sporting versatile, dancefloor detonators “Danny Uzi Vert” and “Taj Mahal,” IFSXXX001 has quickly gained unprecedented, global support, as the first wave of 475 copies were sold out in less than 30 minutes. Luckily, additional units will be available for pre-order on March 6 across multiple platforms, so act fast!
