Grammy winner Skrillex has taken to the social media airwaves to give his virtual stamp of approval to new underground producers. First, a viral video surfaced of Skrillex in a car blasting Bukez Finezt’s remix of “Hench” (featuring Merky Ace), which was originally produced by JPhelpz.
Up-and-coming producer/DJ Tokez of Savage Society has also received support from Skrillex, having played his VIP of Trampa’s “Pirates” over the weekend in another video that surfaced from a show Washington DC. Whether you refer to it as swamp, riddim or trench, this particular subgenre movement within bass music is beginning to pick up steam.
Tokez (aka Max Sloan) shares his thoughts on the recent support: “It’s exciting to see underground dubstep producers getting recognized by artist we’ve looked up to since we started listening to bass music. A year ago you would never have thought the style had any room on major labels like Smog, OWSLA and Firepower.
