Danny “Dubplate” Cootes is a name that’s become synonymous with unreleased D&B bangers from around the world, and the UK-based artist has a stocked SoundCloud that serves as a well-known hub for dubplate junkies and virtual trainspotters to get their fix.
Enter his latest project, record label Spectre Audio, that promises to deliver the same quality cuts he’s known for championing online all these years. Kicking things off with a heavy single is Hungarian producer Nepo. The lead track, “Crazy,” brings the heaviness with knocking, spacious percussion coupled with some tearing, screeching mid-range that Nepo twists and turns with expert precision. “Chocolate” switches things up a bit, delivering a sweet new-school feel that perfectly executes the funkier side of dancefloor D&B.
