State of Mind “Doomsday”
State of Mind “Doomsday”

Following up on their scene-shattering Eat the Rich LP that dropped in 2014, the New Zealand-based duo known as State of Mind return to Blackout with yet another heavyweight foray into the heart of neurofunk-land with Land of the Blind. It’s their fifth studio album and while the project has been released in three stages, it’s obvious that the final piece of the puzzle features some of the best cuts the crew has to offer.

From the chest-thumping growler “Chain Reaction” that features MC Coppa in the mix, all the way through to the strychnine-laced “Pyschopath,” the two are in top form. With a little flex on the lighter side of things on “Nothing More To Say” serving as an interlude to the pain that follows in the form of “Flame Thrower” featuring Lifesize MC as well as their sizzling collab with Black Sun Empire on “Part of Me.”

Even with all that heat it’s the monster vibes of “Doomsday” that we’re stoked to be offering up as a premiere for the Bassrush masses. From the winding anxiety-inducing intro that spirals its way to the dizzying drop, the wall-shaking, chest-thumping aggression at the core makes for a cinematic ride into the darkside that captures the jaw-dropping skills that State of Mind is known for.

The full Land of the Blind LP drops August 9 on Blackout Music NL so be sure to pre-save and pre-order your copy of this future classic here.
