Substrate Recordings, the imprint presented by dubstep powerhouse Acting Damage, is back with a new six-track compilation. Featuring a diverse gang of producers, the Melbourne-based imprint succeeds in capturing the essence of real underground dubstep on Seraphim Volume 3.
The Acting Damage curated comp kicks things off with the Australia-based producer Chibs bringing his wonky aura to the mix with “Iron Chef.” With its cheeky samples and warping bassline it’s the perfect intro to the heavyweight project. Next up the soundsystem killer Rawtee displays his brand of bass and unique flow front and center with “Violent Content,” a torturous mix of complex synths and surgical edits. Another big contender on the comp comes from Kron in the form of “Whacked”—this cavernous slice of riddim hits hard and is highly choppable.
