The first track from Task Horizon‘s Hack the Planet EP is here and it’s a proper neurofunk lovers dream. Aptly titled “Disintegrate” the cut forms the core of the second release off the budding Evolution Chamber imprint helmed by none other than Magnetude, Receptor and of course, the four-headed crew known as Task Horizon. Designed as a space to give the collective complete freedom to release bits from across the spectrum of the drum and bass genre, the eclectic, left-leaning output that the label envisions championing is still obviously firmly rooted in the sci-fi/horror aesthetic that each artist is known for.
The tech-driven atmospheres are in full effect as the cinematic intro to “Disintegrate” paves the way for a haunting swerve into the outer edges of the known universe. Once the vocal drops sounds the alarm, the stomping heart of the beast is turned loose and the resulting growler is sure to bring on the pain. With a kind of heady hypnotism at the core, the slowly-evolving groove sheds its skin and reemerges in the second half as a fire-spitting creature. Electrifying from start to finish, put this one on as you enter hyperspace and hope for the best when you emerge from deep sleep on the dark side of some ancient moon.
This one drops as a Beatport and Spotify exclusive tomorrow, January 24, with the full worldwide release to follow on January 31. Download / stream yours here and keep your ears open for audio from the rest of the heavyweight EP to drop soon
