The Portugal-based Fragz and Blast combine forces to launch their newly minted Surveillance Music imprint with a heavyweight four-track EP. Featuring the likes of Mean Teeth, Vowel and Screamarts and of course Fragz himself, the Blacklist EP sets the stage for what promises to be a bright future for the burgeoning imprint.
While all the cuts hit that sweet spot between tech-driven funk, minimalist dancefloor weaponry and straight up dank, menacing vibes, our favorite selection in the mix comes from the UK-based duo known as Volatile Cycle. Flexing on that dark and minimal tip as only they can do, “Beaky Blinder” is a surefire shot straight to the synapses as the expertly crafted layers combine to form a masterclass in restrained aggression sure to go down in warehouses and clubs alike.
It’s an impressive kick-start to the new imprint and one that has us eager to see what else the crew is kicking in the coming year. Out July 1 as a Beatport exclusive with the rest of the world getting in on the action July 26, so look out!
