Fusing elements of trap, tropical, and bass house, Dutch producer Wiwek is clearly not your ordinary bass music producer. Having defined the now-famous “jungle terror” sound, his festival-pleasing style has seen regular outings on top labels like Barong Family and Mad Decent. Wiwek’s tastemaking beats have also caught the ear of the mighty Skrillex, leading to his latest signing on OWSLA.
His vocal-laden The Free and Rebellious EP takes listeners on a journey with five alluring tracks. Kicking things off is party anthem “Killa,” his sought after collab with Skrillex featuring vocal work from Swedish sound girl Elliphant. Next up, London’s Audio Bullys set the vibe on “Rebels” before Hollywood songstress Sirah lays down vocals for the quirky “Stop Me.”
“Calvalry” is a total banger blessed by the talented queen of bounce, Big Freedia, who infuses the track with blistering energy. Last but not least the Barong Family joins together for an epic collab with Yellow Claw featuring Lil’ Debbie called “Pop It.”
