The Mexico-based Gerardo Alvarez, best known by his Youth In Circles moniker, steps into the new year in a massive way with this electrifying release of Flux Pavilion’s “Surrender.”
Eagle-eyed fans of Jessica Audiffred may have noticed Youth In Circles supporting her on her recent “RYOKO” tour, especially when he busted out the guitar and transfixed the crowd with his unique melodic bass sound and performance. Having steadily climbed his way into the hearts and minds of audiences all across North America, it’s this remix that is surely going to help expand his audience even farther and in a well-deserved way.
Taking the original “Surrender” that featured Next to Neon and AM on the assist, the Flux Pavilion sizzler gets an extra dose of melancholy as Youth In Circles flips it into a melodic bass anthem that has been breaking hearts on the dancefloor each and every time its been dropped.
As Youth In Circles tells us: “This remix is so surreal to me, Flux has been one of my biggest inspirations since day one. His first songs were part of my introduction into the bass music and EDM world in general when I was 16 and to be able to make an official remix for a song that I love blows my mind.”
Released through Flux and Doctor P’s newly minted Circus Electric imprint, the tune aligns with the imprint’s vision of releasing “bold, boundary-pushing releases from the bass music world that are more experimental in nature.” With just enough bite to keep the dubstep purists locked in, there’s no denying the swirling atmospheres, sweeping vocals, and melodic heart of the cut is where all the power of the tune resides.
