DJ and Producer Zeke Beats comes with a background as a turntable superstar, having earned the title of Australian DMC Champion, ranking fourth in the world in the prestigious IDA World Championships, as well as being named Grandmaster Turntablist DJ Qbert’s first ever Scratch University Valedictorian.
In less than two years, the Australian DJ broke through the EDM scene with his 2016 EP, Meltdown on Terrorhythm Records, which gained support from Bassnectar and scored him airplay on triple j, Rinse FM, BBC Radio and mixed for Alison Wonderland’s Radio Wonderland on SiriusXM. He’s also grabbed the attention of other major bass music producers such as DJ Craze, DJ Shadow, Toddla T, G Jones and EPROM with releases on imprints ranging from Skrillex’s Nest HQ to Zeds Dead’s Deadbeats.
Now, Buygore Records introduces Zeke Beats latest in the form of his aptly titled Devastate EP. The four-track release is testament to his multi-layered, signature style sound design of freeform bass music. He takes a formulaic approach to his intricate, experimental production skillset, boasting dramatic soundscape, featuring low-leveled basslines and high-pitched kicks that come together for a clean, contemporary edge.
With a mission to melt faces, Zeke Beats blends hip-hop and grime along with his signature analogue basslines for a distinct dirty, crunchy and futuristic sound. The EP kicks off with the title track, “Devastate,” priming listeners for a sonic journey, possessing a darker and harder electronic feel. “Chaos” features progressive builds accompanied by striking grooves and blaring horn samples. The concluding track, “Hypnotize,” shows a playful side of bass music, featuring Shaman, with a rattling, lighthearted beat that showcases his technical talents from one end of the spectrum to the other.
In honor of the Devastate EP, Zeke Beats has also announced his upcoming North American tour, which will makes stops in Atlanta, Seattle, Vancouver, Indianapolis and more.
